  Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance

The purpose of Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance is simple...it fills the gaps other life insurance policies leave open. For example, many employer-provided benefits only provide essential life insurance protection and are not designed to cover all your needs. If your lifestyle has recently changed and you've had a baby...purchased a new or larger mortgage...or now have children entering college...it's especially important to update your family's financial protection by adding Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance coverage.

Supplemental Medical Insurance offers voluntary employee health insurance benefits including dental, accident, life, cancer, long-term care, and short-term disability
Everyone's needs are different, but the type of supplemental insurance protection most experts recommend is term life insurance. That's because term life is pure insurance without added costs to cover cash values, loans or any other extra frills. It's one of the best insurance buys for your money.
Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance provides for doctor services, inpatient and outpatient services and supplies, home health care, physical and speech therapy, ambulance services, and unlimited home visits by skills nurses. You are automatically enrolled in the program unless you officially withdraw and the monthly premiums are deducted from your social security check. Although you must pay the difference between the 80 percent of Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance coverage and what you are charged, many doctors agree to accept the amount approved as paid in full. You may also be able to purchase supplemental insurance from your own insurance company depending on your age and physical health. For details, check with your insurance agent about your company and what it has to offer. Accordingly, this information is not a substitute for the advice of an insurance professional.

The mission of the Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance Department is to serve and protect the insurance buying public. This will be accomplished by assuring that consumers have available a solvent insurance market, a well-educated industry from which to purchase insurance, and by providing high-quality policyholder service and education. To this end, the Department will enforce the insurance laws and regulations of this state impartially and expeditiously. These policies cover you in the event of a specific, serious health problem. For example, you can buy supplemental cancer policies, intensive-care unit policies, and multiple sclerosis policies, to name a few. It's not that these conditions are not covered by regular health insurance. But Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance give you extra financial protection for costs associated with these diseases and conditions, or so says the sales pitch.

Some Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance policies insure against specific illnesses like cancer and muscular dystrophy. Others cover accidents, and still others pay a daily benefit to a person who's required to stay in the hospital, usually called a hospital indemnity policy. Some insurers also classify disability insurance and dental insurance as supplemental health policies. While both obviously "supplement" your health insurance, they're also must-haves -- so we're not discussing them here with these more specialized policies. Oklahoma Supplemental Insurance insurers typically sell policies at a group rate to an employer. The employer then offers the benefit to employees, usually as a pre-tax deduction from their paychecks. Supplemental insurance is rarely sold directly to consumers.
Supplemental Medical Insurance does not cover eye and hearing exams, foot care, immunizations, or physical exams.
