  Florida Major Medical Health Insurance

Florida major medical health insurance is a type of medical insurance coverage that covers a person for all kinds of expenses he may occur. This kind of coverage can be for both inpatient and outpatient care. This medical insurance policy has higher individual benefits and policy maximum limits and is divided in two types. Comprehensive insurance where you get the basic medical insurance cover and some additional coverage in one policy and the second is supplemental insurance. In the second kind of insurance, in which the inured person gets a basic health insurance policy that will make the payment and the supplemental policy will pay the rest of the expenses.

In Florida one is covered under two kinds of major medical health insurance plans. You can buy Florida insurance via an HMO or a health maintenance organization. The HMO plans are traditionally offered by employers and are given to groups. Here the coverage is offered on a group basis and there will be a group of doctors or medical professionals that will provide the insurance coverage at the payment of a flat rate without paying any deductibles. But there is a drawback, as only those doctors or medical professionals who are members of the HMO network can be covered under it. If one visits professionals outside this network, the visit needs to be cleared by a doctor from the HMO, who will refer the case to an outside professional.
The second kind of health insurance protection is known as preferred provider organization or PPO. Under The PPO plan, we find doctors, hospitals and other health care specialists that provide care at a lower fee. The only difference between HMO and PPO plans is that the latter allows greater flexibility for those covered to visit health care providers that are not in the network. If one visits within the network, he has to pay a small fee, and if he goes out of the network he will pay a small fee.

In Florida the insured individual does not have to pay for the services, as the insurance company will pay the agent his commission. The Florida major medical health insurance company cannot charge an individual a higher premium because the individual is buying his health insurance policy directly from the company.
